The Opportunity:
You will serve as a vital operational leader, directly overseeing $5M to $20M+ commercial projects from pre-construction through close-out. Working closely with company owners in a relationship-driven culture, you will join Allen+Batchelor Construction during an important stage of organizational growth. As the company builds a stronger middle-management structure over the next three to four years, this role offers the opportunity to grow into broader leadership responsibilities based on performance, demonstrated capabilities, and the evolving needs of the business. You will bring true builder expertise to high-impact local developments without the burden of extensive travel.
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Direct all phases of ground-up commercial projects from early design-build collaboration through final warranty.
- Lead project buyout, submittal reviews, invoice approvals, schedules, change management, and project close-outs.
- Partner closely with field superintendents to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, under budget, and injury-free.
- Maintain transparent, solution-oriented relationships with design partners, subcontractors, and client stakeholders.
- Apply proactive problem-solving to design and construction challenges rather than relying on trade partners to figure them out.
- Oversee project financial health, ensuring precise cost management and alignment with core business principles.
- Mentor junior project engineers and assistant project managers to build high-performing project delivery teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of dedicated commercial project management experience
- Proven track record managing ground-up commercial construction projects valued between $5M and $20M+.
- Specific experience delivering projects in healthcare, religious, commercial office, or retail sectors.
- Strong field-based construction knowledge, including the ability to read plans and specifications, understand construction sequencing and trade coordination, identify constructability concerns, and independently resolve jobsite issues rather than relying solely on Architects and Engineers for solutions.
- Hands-on experience with Design-Build, cost-plus, and lump-sum contract structures.
- Strong proficiency with industry software including Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Sage Timberline Estimating, and scheduling tools.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills built around direct, relationship-oriented client service.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of dedicated commercial project management experience.
- Valid OSHA 30 certification.
