The Opportunity
You will serve as a key field asset supporting civil construction, parks, playgrounds, and public recreation projects across New Jersey.
This role empowers you to apply engineering principles directly to the field, ensuring construction accuracy and quality site preparation before issues become delays. You will help build safe, vibrant community spaces while growing your civil engineering career alongside experienced industry professionals.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Conduct regular field inspections to ensure civil and site development work aligns with engineering plans and specs.
- Review site grading, surfacing, and drainage installations to verify compliance with design details and safety standards.
- Monitor field crews and subcontractors for proper material usage, quality workmanship, and safety protocols.
- Identify design or field discrepancies early to prevent costly rework, delays, and punch-list challenges.
- Maintain daily field inspection logs, taking site photos and writing structured progress reports for internal leadership.
- Track completed field quantities and site materials to assist project managers with forecasting, billing, and closeouts.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and field supervisors to solve real-time technical site challenges.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or equivalent practical experience in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field operations.
- 1 to 3+ years of experience in civil construction, sitework, field inspection, or assistant project management.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting civil blueprints, site engineering drawings, project specifications, and scopes.
- Working knowledge of civil sitework activities, including grading, concrete, drainage, and surfacing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to accurately document field notes and report issues.
- Valid driver’s license with willingness to travel locally to active job sites throughout New Jersey.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- Valid OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Background in public works, municipal projects, school construction, or municipal park and playground development.
- Familiarity with civil construction sequencing, sub-base preparation, and material testing standards.
- Experience utilizing photo-based inspection logging and digital daily reporting tools.
